  1. You’re absolutely welcome! Thank you tons for the lyrics. I have to say - I really have never read anything like them. I wish there was some way to let you know for sure that I don’t say that about just any lyrics. These seriously are amazing. Ethereal, pure, just plain otherworldly, and David’s voice is perfect for that vibe. I was reading some of the other lyrics, and noticed the lyrics for The Most Beautiful Part About This Is… Are you a Christian? The lyrics would suggest so. :)

Thanks again. Angels in the Alleyway is one of my new… probably top five favorite songs.

  4. Thanks SO much for sharing your songs with David’s voice on them. I absolutely love “The Most Beautiful Part About This Is…”. I’ve literally been listening to it for the last 4 hours on repeat on YouTube. Is there a way you can make these available for download? Because I’d LOVE to have them so I can loop them all day long. (I’m not kidding about the looping & listening. They really are gorgeous.)

    Thank you!! :)

  10. Since my post these songs have been stolen and put on youtube. Stolen and put to mp3. And now they’re everywhere I guess thats what life gives you.

    Comment by admin — March 10, 2008 @ 8:42 pm

  11. :/ I know how you feel… most people will listen to the song on youtube, come here and say thanks, get the mp3 from someone else, and never return again.

I’m going to try my best to keep up with this website for as long as I have internet access. I think you have a gift, and, most importantly, a passion. It inspires me.

I always feel bad when I find out about things only because they are in some way associated with something extremely popular (in this case - American Idol and David Archuleta). I feel like I should have known about them some other way, but… that’s just the way the world turns. I had never heard of your or your website - but now I do, and I shall return. You’ve got a fan. :)

  24. Hey Merrick! I love your song “Angels in the alleyway!”
Just wanted to let you know that there is a competition in American Idol giving a songwriter a chance to write a song for the finalists of American Idol to sing! I think you should enter, either with Angels in the Alleyway or another song you have written.

  28. How nice of you to share your beautiful work with the world.

I write, too, in Japanese, and so I understand how much time and effort you must have put in to all that you have shared. I am sorry to hear that some people are coping them in ways that you do not like. As one of millions of writers out there, I understand how precious our works become to ourselves…

“The Way You Are” made me think about long time ago when I once…

    Keep writing, Merrick!

  29. I have been listening to these songs you have written. Am a 54 yr old woman who has turned away from my faith over my lifetime. Listening to David sing and his interviews makes me believe in something positive and true for the first time in a long time. Thank you for these.

    Are they available on itunes?

  30. Can I download this in iTunes?

    Comment by Paula — March 31, 2008 @ 2:44 am

  31. Hello! May I just say you are an EXTREMELY gifted songwriter. I found Angels in the Alleyway on limewire, looking for things David didn’t sing on Idol, and I cannot stop listening to it. I hope everyone who comes across it on limewire or other sites finds your website and truly appreciates your work, not JUST David’s vocals. And if you end up on itunes, I’ll gladly buy these tracks to support you ;) because you are absolutely deserving. Do you have any other songs recorded? I’d LOVE to hear them…the lyrics are amazing. Sorry if you’ve answered this a million times…but if you don’t, please please please record them for your fans! I don’t know about anyone else but I’d love to hear you singing your creations. PS, I was browsing through your portfolio and I love your designing too! Alright well now that I sound like a total suck up. I’ll check back here for more from you, or feel free to email me at mcgill817@aol.com or find me on facebook or something. I’m always up for meeting new friends [=

    Comment by Shannon — May 26, 2008 @ 12:09 pm

  40. No not at all. I make myself incredibly vulnerable when I share these songs because they are very personal. :p

  41. I bought both your downloads this morning. Very inspirational, thank you. I also love your song mentioning fog in Salt Lake - reminds me of home and those November snows.

Is it possible to get the guitar chords for “The Most Beautiful Part…”? we’d love to sing this at camp this year for a devotional.

    Keep writing and inspiring!

  42. Hey, I really wonder if there is any chance of getting the chords for “Angels in the alleyway”, because I love the song to death, even though I just heard it… and I would play it to my girlfriend.. Thank you already

    Comment by Katsu — June 9, 2008 @ 6:02 am

  43. Merrick, I just discovered your website and I’m so glad I did. I have been wanting a chance to tell you how wonderful your songs are. “The Most Beautiful Part. About This Is..” goes right to my heart. Every time I hear “That’s the time you must fall to your knees” I start to cry. I’m crying right now just typing it. I don’t know why it touches me so much, but it does. I just want to say thank you so much for writing these amazing, beautiful songs and for making them available to us. I hope you will continue your song writing so we will have more of these gems in the future.

but, can i have the chords? i can’t found it anywhere! i really need the chords!

    Comment by christin — June 25, 2008 @ 4:27 am

  46. Me’rrick - I purchased these two songs the minute I found about them on iTunes - I believe it was provided by a link on Gail Hyatt’s David Archuleta Fanblast site. I start every morning listening to these two songs and it helps me make it through the day.
So many people are asking for the written music - are you considering having someone who writes music do this for you? also transposing it to piano music? I would be first in line to buy the sheet music at my local music store!

    Comment by Sara Leanne — September 1, 2008 @ 10:33 pm

  51. Merrick,
I just wanted to say, I love your song “The Most Beautiful Part…” it is so amazing. The words are so powerful and portray the perfect message. I was wondering if it would be possible to get chord sheets for this. I would love to perform it at church as a special or have our worship team introduce it to the congregation. I know it would be nothing like what David has done, but it is such a powerful message, it would be a shame not to share it with others. I’m not really sure how copy rights and all of that go. We do have a CCLI # for our church if you do ever register the sheet music or guitar chords for it. If you could let me know what needs to be done or if your even willing to share, that would be great!
    God Bless,
    Kim
